I think the best thing about science is the diversity of it all. There’s so many different things to learn and so many different things to discover. Plus, the more you learn, the more you see how much things are linked across all the different areas of science. I do research into nuclear waste disposal but that links to chemistry, mineralogy (the study of the minerals in the environment), and microbiology (because of all the microbes that are present in the environment).

Science allows us to observe natural phenomena, and can help us exploit this phenomena to achieve a desired purpose through its application. This can range from antibiotics (based on an observation that mould can stop bacteria from growing) to power generation and telecommunications (based on the observation that changing currents and voltages in a wire will generate electricity on a nearby wire), and many other scientific fields.

Everything! You can explore how everything works and investigate when it doesn’t. You also get to see how technology is advancing before you see it being sold in the shops.

I find most things interesting – so many different topics. I love listening to podcasts such as Crowd Science that answers the how and why for everyday question from people around the world. Science that anyone can relate to and understand.

Science is everything – it’s how we understand the universe we exist in, and everything in it, based on what we can observe. That means if you are interested in…. anything…. you are interested in science.
There are hundreds of different fields within science and they won’t all necessarily spark one person’s interest but there is certainly something for everyone to get excited about. -

The awesomeness of it.
Science often just has me in utter awe it is all around us but we take it so much for granted, gravity, the perfection of our atmospheric air composition, new life created from just a few atoms I could go on!

The thing about science is that it surrounds us all the time. It is a field where curiosity is deep and it is very intense (also.. sometimes frustrating). We can be children again, asking all those “simple” questions:
Why is the sky blue?
Why is the grass green?
What is a rainbow?
And asking such simple questions in other fields:
What is an atom?
Why is one radioactive material good whilst the other is bad?
Why is the body attacking ourselves?
It is so satisfying to find an answer to such questions, you feel just happy. (: -
You know that you are going to find something new, not just repeating work. Every day is different, success or failure, all the experiences make me feel energetic
